Life Mercantile Hospital

Renovation and upgrade of the intensive care unit, surgical C and theatres. Two of 5 theatres, including a laminar flow theatre*, were reconstructed and 3 theatres were renovated. The project included the reconstruction of the doctors’ and nurses’ rest and changing rooms. A steel passage was bolted to the 4th floor of the building to provide access to one of the theatres. Work was done while the theatres remained operational.

*Laminar flow theatres work to prevent airborne bacteria from getting into open wounds, as well as removing and reducing levels of bacteria on exposed surgical instruments, surgeons and the patient’s own skin.
